i have been staying for business at swissotel for over 20 years and my most recent stay was most disappointing. It has become an expensive 'cheap' looking hotel. Lifts that don't work are a constant problem, no longer have amenities in the rooms, and very average service. Sal

We arrived early, room was ready which was great, thank you. The sofa bed was already made up leaving nowhere to sit but the beds. I would have preferred the sofa bed to be set up later as there were 4 of us & it took up a lot of space. There was no view from the room except of a couple of buildings and the top of the roof of the building below. As Accor gold members we were advised that we would be in a room on a higher floor/nicer location. There was no information in the room about services etc. Most 5 star hotels we have stayed at (even most 3 star) have complimentary products in the bathroom, in this room they were all fixed, refillable bottles which felt more like a visit to the gym or similar. The room is advertised as suitable for 5 people, we were a family of 4 which included older teenagers who realistically are adult sized. When we did eventually go to bed two of us slept on the sofa bed. The bed was so uncomfortable and small. The inner spring mattress was so worn, it gave no support & the springs could be felt through the fabric. I ended up with pain down one side of my body and a sore back the next morning. The weren’t enough pillows, I had to call twice to have some delivered to the room & our feet hung over the end of the bed because it wasn’t big enough (I’m 168cm). I had 2 cocktails in the bar (margaritas) first one was fine second one was only half full. I ordered another one to the room which was unusually served over ice. The menu in the bar advertised the margaritas at $16 however when I checked the charge to the room it was $50 for the 2 cocktails in the bar. We went for a swim at the pool which was over run with children, one in particular older child doing bombs into the pool splashing everyone in or out of the pool so many times I had to ask his mother to get him to stop. No staff anywhere to be seen monitoring the pool. One lift seemed to be out of order which caused huge delays trying to go out for the morning, up to a 20 minute wait at one point. The ambiance of the hotel was beautiful, the staff lovely and professional but given the rest of the issues outlined above I would definitely not describe our stay as one in a five star hotel. It was so disappointing as we have stayed previously when our kids were younger and that stay was fantastic. Had the experience with the sofa bed been different I probably would have overlooked all the other smaller issues. This visit to the city is an annual event for our family to celebrate our daughter’s birthday to make it a little more special as it’s right before Christmas. It’s left us feeling disappointed and we won’t book at Swissôtel Sydney again

My wife and I did a couple’s weekend and had amazing stay. Loved the spacious room and the bath was an added bonus. Highly recommend!
