Absolutely wonderful hotel! Cannot rate it highly enough. It definitely meets a 5* rating and is one of the best I’ve stayed in in the world for service. The hotel is more of a resort than a ‘city hotel’ so you can’t easily walk to restaurants and shops etc but we chose the hotel for that reason, as Istanbul is a hectic city and we wanted somewhere to relax after exploring. It is a steep walk up to the hotel though so bear that in mind. Taxis are very cheap in the city though (we were paying about £3/4 on average) so we often walked into the centre and then took a taxi back. The hotel has a number of restaurants which are all excellent (although the rooftop restaurant is very much a bar/nightclub so we didn’t eat there). We booked a pool room but we didn’t realise they are smoking rooms and it had a very strong smell of stale smoke. We complained on check in and were offered three other rooms to choose from and were then upgraded to a one bedroom suite, which was just perfect. Everyone on reception was super helpful and patient and were more than happy to walk around showing us different rooms! Kamil in the residence building was exceptional and assisted us with booking taxis etc. The housekeeping staff were great and the manager came to check everything was okay a few times, and to see if there was anything we needed. Breakfast is superb - a huge amount of choice and great food. Breakfast ends at 10.30am but we were not rushed at all and often stayed enjoying the food and views until midday. Faruk was wonderful and brought us mimosas to enjoy on our last day! The pool area is fabulous and we spent a few days relaxing in the sun. Plenty of sun loungers and the staff were super helpful, finding you a good spot by the pool. We didn’t use the spa but it looked great. The views from the lobby area are beautiful and it was a bustling bar/coffee shop that was busy until 2am. The WiFi is great and works all over the resort. You can also use it at other ACCOR hotels in the city (eg the Novotel). Wine is very expensive in Istanbul in general and the cheapest glass of wine in the hotel was £13.50. We went to several other 5* hotels in the area and this was more expensive than the others. The Galataport area is really lovely - great shops and restaurants and is a lovely walk down to the port. Would definitely stay in the hotel again and cannot find anything negative to say - 5* in every way!
