This is the first time I stayed at a Swissotel, I made a reservation on Expedia and could only go off pictures and descriptions, and the room we got was shocking. Stained carpets, blankets, old shower that smelled like mildew. Dirt on the furniture, the entire room was disgusting. I felt gross just staying there. I couldn't believe this was at a Swissotel. The next day, I requested a change. This is when I learned that the room was the bottom-tier room, and we could pay a little extra to move to another room. At that moment, I would have spent more to escape the room. I quickly learned the "tier system"; even the new floor was a different color, there was air conditioning on the floor, and it smelled better. If someone couldn't afford an upgrade, it would be disrespectful to expose them to that room. The new room wasn't even that of a high-end hotel.

Everything was fine especially the location. Except for the partition between the shower area and the dry area outside. The glass partition only covered half of the shower, making it difficult to shower and I was worried that water would splash onto the dry area.

The hotel is immaculate and beautifully presented. As a platinum member check in was easy though room was not available until 13:30 I did get a 18:00 check out which was perfect for an evening flight. Rooms were enormous for Japan. Bed was huge and very comfortable. Amenities also were lovely. Facilities here are first class. The various restaurants and coffee shops are a delight. Shun whiskey experience is an overwhelming yes from me. The only con is the executive lounge. Staff were great however over three day I was turned away twice. It is small and overcrowded with loud children everywhere. If I were to have paid for an executive room and been denied entry I would be upset as many were. Needs a rethink the only negative in what is a lovely hotel. Can’t wait to return with the family
