Overall, the experience was fine. The staff are very friendly and service oriented. The Club lounge is average, not particularly well appointed and somewhat cramped. The restaurant 'Ten Stories' was disappointing, poorly appointed and tired. The food was OK but the service inadequate for 5-star hotel which in my estimation this is not, I've stayed in lots of hotels all over the world to be able to judge. So, although I am pointing out the negatives, we nonetheless had a good weekend and our room was very pleasant.

The hotel requires refurbishment. The bathroom is outdated for a 5-star hotel, the restaurant needs a major overhaul. The dining chairs in the restaurant are stained and worn. The buffet breakfast was below average for a 5 star hotel restaurant, choices are limited to the basics. I didn't feel welcome by the staff at reception even as an Accor Gold member. Im a gold member with Hilton and enjoyed my stay at Hilton Sydney and I was put onto the executive floor with full access to the executive lounge. I will definitely stay at Hilton Sydney again. The buffet breakfast both at the restaurant and lounge was up to standard. I would recommend my friends and work colleagues to stay at Hilton Sydney instead of Swissotel Sydney. In addition, I was told on the phone the night before room will be available for an early check-in around 9am via a courtesy call as an Accor gold member, however when I arrived at the hotel I was told to wait until 3pm. I understood being a gold member early checking was subject to availability. Wasted my time arriving at the hotel early. Very disappointed with the stay at Swissotel Sydney .

Caitriona F. found the rooms on both stays no clean, and when arrived from work meetings at 8:30pm the kitchen was closed i.e. was unable to order any dinner. Caitriona also attempted to contact room service to order dinner and no-one picked up. Check in took over 10 mins and no-one was at the front desk.

I have stayed with Swissotel Sydney many times but this time was left feeling disappointed. The staff generally were helpful and friendly as usual; the member checking us in may have been new? I hadn’t seen her before and things seemed to take a very long time. There was a very long line for check-in, took us over 20mins to check-in 2 rooms and then to be told 1 room wasn’t ready yet. We didn’t check-in till 3:30pm. The room did not become available till after 5. There was no apology or compensation offered, I asked for some drink vouchers. Housekeeping seemed to be a bit random this time, got some towels 1 day but not the others.
