Overall we enjoyed our stay, great location, etc. But for a hotel of this expense, I didn't like "negotiating" at the front desk for an earlier check-in ($100 extra) and no housekeeping ($20 bar credit). We paid because we were exhausted, but the room was completely ready for us; you obviously could have just let us check in, instead we got squeezed out of another $100. Later, we called room service and asked for silverware. The woman curtly informed me we would be charged $1 per item brought to the room, plus delivery charge and gratuity. Seriously?? Really?? We declined. Being nickel-and-dimed by a luxury hotel is particularly bad form.

Our room was large and comfortable, with incredible views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. The service and hospitality was excellent. Bernard, in particular, at the front desk made us feel at home, and he was expert and efficient in making meal and tour arrangements for us. He thought of everything and left no detail out of place. We enjoyed our stay immensely, and we hope to return. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Chicago.

I had booked a room with one king bed but instead was assigned a room with two double beds. Even worse, it was room 1420 which is on the backside of the elevators. I could hear the elevators running through out the night. Lastly, please clean the chandeliers at the service desk, currently they are quite dusty and it makes a terrible first impression.
