CHILDREN ARE OUR WORLD

Quality of life means the world to us. Every day we look for ways to make people happier and healthier when they stay with us. Family and well-being are part of our Swiss DNA, so it made perfect sense to partner with non-profit organisation SOS Children’s Villages back in 1999.

Over 20 years later, our partnership has helped to support countless children around the world throughout their journey. And, our help extends beyond childhood. The first SOS Children’s Villages child we helped is now working at Swissotel Chicago. While a great news story, our work is far from over, and we have plenty more in store for the years ahead.

You may not yet be familiar with the work of SOS Children’s Villages. Its story began in post-war Austria by Hermann Gmeiner, an Austrian philanthropist who was born to a big family of farmers in 1919. His mother died while he was still a young boy, and his eldest sister Elsa took on the task of caring for the youngest of the children. Confronted with war orphans and homeless children, he set about implementing his idea for SOS Children's Villages.

Today, SOS Children’s Villages makes a real difference for families and children who’ve lost everything to war, civil conflicts or natural disasters in 136 countries around the world. When children no longer can live with their families, SOS Children's Villages work with communities and state partners to provide children with loving and supportive alternative care. Recognising that it's not enough to provide a bed and meals, SOS Children’s Villages works to strengthen communities through education, family strengthening, accessible health care and other community work.
