Our suite was 3420. It could have been a great stay but unfortunately, there were some things that were not up to the Swissotel standards that we have grown accustomed in our numerous previous stays. First, when we arrived my husband immediately noticed that his favorite big, blue high-back chair and tiny glass side table in the bedroom were missing. It has been his morning and evening ritual to sit in this chair and relax. We advised Housekeeping on the matter and to their credit they came with a substitute orange high-back chair and the tiny glass table. Second, by late at night we realized that the windows in both the bedroom and the living/dining room were stripped off of the usual blackout blinds. Since we have already unpacked our things ( which was a lot ) and determined that we would just be told that the hotel is packed, we no longer took this concern to the Manager. The huge gap between the window and the main blinds allowed much light to stream into the rooms. This caused great discomfort in our sleep particularly in the mornings. Third, we emailed Reservations prior to our arrival to request a room with a powder room that has a Japanese water closet ( one with a wash/bidet feature ). We have stayed in the same room category for many times to know for a fact that there are rooms with such WC in its powder room. Sadly, we were not fortunate enough to be accorded our request. We hope that the Hotel will soon take on the task of replacing powder room WCs with Japanese units. Based on the first and second points I raised, my family and I wonder how the Hotel deemed suite 3420 fit to house paying guests. We truly hope that it’s a one-time error in judgement and that Swissotel Nankai will not compromise its usual high standards. We will stay again in your Hotel on March 25. We hope that the Hotel shall redeem itself and our March stay shall be far more pleasant than our previous stay.
