The location was excellent and the view was magnificent. Our bay-facing room was extremely comfortable and spacious too. The staff were hospitable however I had many issues understanding their English, which led to a slightly less enjoyable and welcoming stay. During my stay I had a few enquiries with the front desk staff that were unnecessarily harder than they should have been. I paid up my dining bills the night before checking out and the staff gave me the impression that I still had an outstanding bill, when instead it was credit for that night’s stay. This took them more than 5 minutes to explain and left me very frustrated until I understood them. I went to the front desk to enquire about missing dining-in discounts and was curtly told that I had to tell each outlet about my membership otherwise the discount would not be applied. This came across more rude than intended because of poor English. I also expected staff at all outlets to ask if a guest had Accor membership by default so that dining discounts could be applied. 20-30% is substantial! At the poolside, some of the wait staff could barely string a sentence together. When I asked if I could order food, the staff waved her arms without a word and called another staff member over to assist me as it seemed she could not speak English. It was the explained to me that the dining would be open in 7 minutes. Again the poor English made it less than ideal. They should also just have taken my order and put it through 7 minutes later. All up the stay was comfortable, the hotel itself was wonderful but poor language skills resulted in a less than satisfactory experience.
