We spent three days and two nights at Swissôtel The Stamford and came away thoroughly impressed. The staff across the board were warm and attentive, but the team out front (the doormen and valets) really made the stay. One heads-up for future guests arriving by car: there is no complimentary parking at Raffles City, so do factor this in. I'd assumed otherwise and was caught out, but the doorman patiently walked me through the options and pointed me toward valet parking the next day. At $35 it's a paid service worth budgeting for, and the valets themselves were genuinely excellent: quick, courteous, and skilled at guiding the car in and out without any stress on my part. A surprise that could easily have soured the trip became a complete non-issue purely because of how well they handled it. Fellow travellers, take note of the parking, but rest assured the team will look after you. Beyond that, the room was comfortable, the views over the city were a real highlight, and the location right above Raffles City and City Hall MRT couldn't be more convenient. Everything simply worked. A genuine 5 stars, with a special thank-you to the doormen and valet team, who set the standard for what good hotel service should feel like. We'll be back.

We arrived at the hotel at approximately 9:30 AM. While we understood that the official check-in time is 3:00 PM, we requested an early check-in as we were traveling as a family of three, including an infant, and had just completed a long and exhausting flight. Our request was denied on the grounds that the hotel was fully booked and that only an Executive Room was available. However, we were told that we would need to pay an additional SGD 280 per night for this room, which is a two-category upgrade from the room we had originally booked. As an Accor Gold member, I was disappointed by this response, especially since the available room was not a suite. Furthermore, our reservation was made using Stay Plus, where the second night is complimentary. Therefore, if an upgrade charge was applicable, it should reasonably have been applied only to the paid night rather than both nights. I explained that I did not require an upgrade and simply requested any available room where my family, particularly our infant, could freshen up and rest after the flight. This request was also denied. During the interaction, the staff member appeared reluctant to show room availability information, which led me to question whether the hotel was genuinely sold out. Unfortunately, I was left with no practical alternative and felt compelled to pay the upgrade fee for both nights, even though the second night was complimentary under the Stay Plus benefit. This was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I have encountered during my travels. The handling of the situation lacked empathy and flexibility, particularly considering that we were traveling with a young child. I expected a much higher standard of hospitality from Swissotel.
