We stayed here as we were seeing a show at the State Theatre!

I had a pleasant enough stay at the Swiss Hotel which is very well located in the middle of Sydney's CBD. However I found the hotel to be a little tired in places. In particular with the lifts, which required roughly 10mins to be budgeted to get from your room to the street due to being very slow and having to wait for two of them.

I am a regular guest at the Swissotel Sydney and this was about my 7th visit this year. I love the location and the large rooms. This visit though had two frustrations. Firstly your guest internet is terrible. It has always been bad and I have put up with it but surely this can be improved. The second issue I had this visit was on Tuesday 11 August. I went downstairs to the bar area at about 1:50pm while my room was being serviced. I sat at one of the green booths. There were other people in the bar but it wasn't busy. I then sat there for close to 1 hour 20 minutes with zero service. No greeting, no menus nothing. During this time there were several other tables that came in and were both greeted and served. Yes, I could have gone up to the bar and ordered but you do offer table service - I also work in the hospitality industry so after about 30 minutes I thought I would just sit there and see how long it took to be noticed. Not once did the waitress look my way. I watched as every other guest was greeted and served. Finally after around 3:10pm I needed to leave to go to an appointment. I went up to the staff and let them know that they had completely ignored me. They apologised and I left. There are only 6 booths and it was outside any busy meal times so it was really disappointing to not receive any kind of service.

Perfect location, beautiful interior, and spotless rooms! I was especially impressed by a staff member who made sure to return an item I left behind. Everyone else was just as welcoming and reliable. I’d definitely stay here again. The only slight inconvenience is that the lobby is on the 9th floor, so you need to switch elevators to reach your room. That said, you can conveniently collect your luggage on the 1st floor after checkout, and there’s a nice sofa area to wait. Plus, being right near Sydney Tower makes sightseeing a breeze, and having a supermarket nearby is super handy. Highly recommended—you can’t go wrong!

Overall, a good experience, however every time I have visited this hotel the elevators have always had some maintenance issue going on making it a frustrating experience for hotel guests. At check out the receptions could not provide me with a complete printed receipt – provided a blank hotel receipt and could not work out why this was happening.
