Had another lovely stay, only thing that jarred was the Check in experience. AS a Gold Accor member I was upgraded to a higher floor which was nice but an unnecessarily awkward and somewhat embarrassing discussion followed on from this. I had been sent the email from Accor asking if I wanted to apply for any paid upgrade ( no guarantee they were available of course) . I had ticked that I was prepared to pay for a suite upgrade if any were available during check in. Once the Guest Services lady had said I was upgraded to a higher floor, I asked if that meant the paid upgrade was not available. The lady said something along the lines of Mam you have already been given an upgrade (which made me feel like I was being one of those people asking for over and above and thats how the conversation flowed from there and left me feeling a bit frustrated and embarrassed I tried to explain, no I mean the paid upgrade in the email from Accor where you tick if you are interested in paying for an upgrade and I had ticked yes to a paying extra for the suite. She looked confused and explained again I had already been upgraded and I said I appreciate that I was just wondering if there was no availability in the requested paid upgrade. She ended up ringing her manager and he said there were no suites left but I could pay $190 a night to have access to the suite lounge. I declined this and was left with an unnecessary bad feeling over the encounter, should have been a simple answer to say sorry but we could not fulfil the paid upgrade request, instead I was made to feel like my question about the suites was asking for something free and over and above what I was entitled to. Because of the awkwardness and I felt lack of understanding to what I was referring to, when I got to my room I checked online and there were still suites available so really not sure what the point of sending out the emails requesting you to tick any paid upgrades you are interested in.. It just left a bad feeling when the reality is I love the hotel and all the rooms are great and am usually happy with whatever room I get.

Let’s see - booked via App. Received my call the day before. Looking forward in seeing you tomorrow. Arrive at the hotel, sorry your booked in 3 weeks later. Found a room, no welcome gift even though the front counter said they will drop it off….. 8.17am the door bell rings.. oh sorry! I thought you checked out already. I am surprised I even was checked in. Sent an email to Matt Turbot and like my booking… doesn’t exist.. frustrated diamond member.

Excellent Stay at Swissotel Sydney. Swissotel represents a great hotel brand and it certainly delivered! The location of the hotel is just perfect, in the heart of Sydney CBD and adjacent to Westfield Malls. So it is very close to many iconic stores, restaurants, and public transportation. We couldn't ask for a better location :-) The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The staff were kind and nice. The executive lounge (I got access because of my Platinum membership) was great. My only suggestion was that the check-in process was a bit longer than I expected. Our little children were getting a bit antsy, but I really appreciated that the reception staff gave them some gifts/toys to pacify them :-) The check out wast fast and easy. Also the bar was really nice. We would definitely love to come back to stay here again.
