The carnival of Goa is held in February every year, three days before Ash Wednesday. Its floats are legendary, with the elected “King Momo”, who presides over the three-day festivities, leading the parade.
This celebration combines elements of circus, mask and public street party.

Feast of St. Francis Xavier

St. Francis Xavier, referred to as "Goencho Saib" (Lord of Goa) by Goans, is the Patron Saint of Goa.  The festival is held every year on 3rd December - the day he was buried - after nine days of prayer, called the Novena.  Various ceremonies are held to honour the Saint's death.
