The city of Geneva is located in the south-west of Switzerland, at the crossroads of France, Italy and Germany. The city sits at the south end of Lake Geneva and is divided by the Rhône River. With a population of 180,000, inhabitants primarily speak French; Geneva has 40% foreign residents, which makes it a truly international city.
Historic buildings such as the Saint-Pierre cathedral, the 16th-century town hall and the 18th-century Palace of Justice, remind visitors that the city is a cultural centre as well as a financial one.
The city of Calvin includes many museums and places of interest, such as the Red Cross museum, the United Nations palace and the Patek Philippe museum. Geneva is also the departure point of many cruises on the Leman Lake, the Swiss vineyards and the nearby mountains.
