Chef Shirley Tay is a renowned Nonya Chef in Singapore. Without proper training in culinary, she started with helping out in the kitchen when she was a child pounding “rempah”, a paste made of spices. As a true born Straits Chinese (Peranakan), her recipes are handed down from her grandmother and mother. Her love of food led her to the kitchen. She believes that passion is very important in cooking and it is only possible to create spectacular cuisines with passion.

Her signature dishes are the Straits Chinese (Peranakan) specialties such as Ayam Buah Keluak, Babi Pongteh and Kueh Dadar. These all time favourites and more are available at Ellenborough Market Café.
